Style: Christoffer´s Audi RS2 Avant on Norwegian winter roads. A perfect combination.
Let´s begin with a brief history about the Audi RS2 Avant. It was based on Audi 80´s faster version, the Audi S2 Avant. The basis car was sent to Porsche´s facility in Zuffenhausen, Stuttgart. There it would get the right modifications so it could become a super estate car. Porsche added new bumpers, side mirrors from the 911, stiffer suspension, new brakes, and Porsche Cup wheels. The five cylinder 2.2 liter 20V Turbo engine was modified to have an output of 315 hp. The power was then delivered to all four wheels by a modified six speed manual transmission.
The car weighs 1 595 kg and has performance figures that are quite impressive even by todays standards. It manages 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, and is actually faster than a McLaren F1 from 0 to 48 km/h. The F1 manages to get there in 1.7 seconds, while the RS2 Avant manges it in 1.5 seconds. And just so you know, in 1994 the F1 was the fastest production car in the world.
So, let us introduce the owner, Christoffer. His passion for cars began as a child, when his father took him to the garage and to the rally cross tracks. When he was nine, he began racing with go carts. Seven years later he started driving formula basic. The people who know Christoffer say that he is an Audi fanatic. But it did not begin like that. His first car was a Honda CRX, and it was first when his father picked up an S2 Coupé he got the fascination for Audi and their five cylinder engines. Now he has a S2 coupé, urquattro coupé 20V Turbo, Typ85 coupé quattro and a S4 Avant, including the RS2 Avant. All of those have the five cylinder engine of course.
But the main star in this article is of course Christoffer´s Audi RS2 Avant. The car is a 1996 model in mint condition with smaller modifications. Because Christoffer has a good eye for details and is a handy guy, he soon after he bought the RS2 discovered it wasn’t that mint as he wanted it to be. Right away he startet do dissemble the car and removed the tiniest bits of rust he could find. He also repainted the car, of course in the original color. Then he slightly modified the engine. Some of the modifications are MTM Chip, 3″ exhaust system and an adjustable turbo valve. A KW2 coilover set is fitted with new bushings and in front the Big Reds help to stop the car. The car rides on 18″ OZ Fittipaldi wheels which are 9,25″ wide and have 225/35-18 tires on them.
Inside there is the original interior with half leather and half alcantara
